Julia Pontones
Miss Julia Pontones (a native Floridian) began her training on the East Coast of Central Florida area under the direction of Mrs. Christy Morton at the Dance Arts Centre where her mother was a dance teacher. Here she studied classical ballet and jazz techniques. She continued training with her mother after opening a successful studio until graduating high school. As a young adult Miss Pontones began to teach ballet and jazz at private studios with connections to the local public schools and outreach programs. She began to do contracted artistic residencies for Brevard Cultural Alliance, The Very Special Arts of Florida and the Brevard County Public school systems. Here endeavors lead her to other private dance studios in the Orlando area where she became the sole technique instructor for the studio’s performing arts company. In 2008 Miss Pontones completed her Associate of the Arts degree with a focus on general business and was accepted to the University of South Florida in the Dance Studies program. Currently Miss Pontones is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Dance Studies with a minor in general business in hopes of owning and operating her own dance school in the future. Academic credits include 2007, 2009 Deans List and Tau Sigma Honor Society Candidate. Choreographic credits include award winning solo pieces at National dance competitions, private dance recitals, Sherwood Elementary school musical, talent showcases, and Festival of Dance (Brevard County Florida). Besides dancing, Miss Pontones enjoys yoga, exploring nature, and reading.
