Special Activities

The Center is pleased to offer half-day special activities for campers with specific interests in public art, building blocks, robotics, engineering and video game animation.

Campers enrolled in specialty activities will follow the same schedule as campers ages 6 to 12. Half of their day will be spent doing their special activity and the other half with their age group doing the designated activities schedule for the creative time.


Member: $225 per week / Non-member: $255 per week

(A one-time $10 administrative fee will be applied to all registered campers.)

“WE DO CONSTRUCTION” with Karen Pizzo

  • June 9-13, 1-4 p.m. (Week 1)
  • June 16-20, 1-4 p.m. (Week 2)
  • July 14-18, 1-4 p.m. (Week 5)
  • July 21-25, 1-4 p.m. (Week 6)

Work in a construction site…with LEGO®s! Construct motorized LEGO machines with sensors and operating commands. Each week will have present new challenges and projects. (Offered four times with a different focus each week!) Ages 7-12


  • June 16-20, 9 a.m. – noon (Week 2)

Write the script, build the set and film the action to make a LEGO® stop-action movie. Ages 9-12

MOTORIZED MANIA! with Bruce Bertan

  • June 23-27, 9 a.m. – noon (Week 3)

Build and customize outrageous motorized machines using LEGO®s. Ages 9-12

ROCK & ROLL ROBOTICS with Bruce Bertan

  • July 7-11, 9 a.m. – noon (Week 4)

Build giant animals, boats and planes, then program motors, tilt sensors, motion sensors and sound to make it all come alive. Ages 7-12


  • July 21-25, 9 a.m. – noon (Week 6)

Create a video game with characters, backgrounds and sound effects using innovative programming language developed just for kids. Ages 7-12


  • July 28-August 1, 9 a.m. – noon (Week 7)

Use math, science and your creativity to build and solve problems with LEGO® simple machines incorporating levers, gears and pulleys. Ages 5-7

ART IN THE SUN with Todd Dunkle

  • August 4-8, 9 a.m. – noon (Week 8)
  • August 11-15, 9 a.m. – noon (Week 9)

Let your imagination run wild as you create a piece of public art to be displayed at the Center for a whole year!  (Offered twice!) Ages 6-12
