Mortimer Brewster’s family is…well…let’s just say they’re not right.
Take Mortimer’s two spinster aunts. They may seem sweet enough, but after a peek in the window seat, Mortimer learns that they have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of home-made elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine, and “just a pinch” of cyanide.
Mortimer’s brother? He thinks he’s Theodore Roosevelt and digs locks for the Panama Canal in the cellar of the Brewster home to bury his aunts’ victims.
And Mortimer’s other brother? Well, there’s nothing to hide here. Just a murderous fugitive who has received plastic surgery performed by an alcoholic accomplice, Dr. Einstein to conceal his identity.
Throw in a new fiancé and the local police, and it’s enough to send anyone to the loony bin.
