How to register for classes


Beginning Guitar with Ryan Muar

In this class students will learn guitar basics such as note reading, right and left hand positions and scales. This class is offered more than once per week. Please see schedule.

Ages: All ages ● Levels: 1, 2

Supplies: Students must provide their own guitar, paper, pencil and folder for music.

Intermediate Guitar with Ryan Muar

Students will begin by learning fundamentals to build a good foundation for making advances easily on the guitar. Topics that will be covered are reading, scales, chords, and left and right hand finger independence. Building on these topics, Ryan Muar will provide pieces of music that will continue the development and build a strong repertoire of music that is right for each individual. This class is offered more than once per week. Please see schedule.

Adult Guitar with Ryan Muar

This class is for both adult beginners and intermediate students. Students will work on learning fundamentals to building a good foundation for making advances easily on the guitar. Piano I (ages 5-7)
with Gretchen Winfield (Tuesday) and Ryan Muar (Saturday)

For young children with no prior piano experience. The keyboard will be introduced. Very basic theory will be explored including the treble and bass clef, the names of the lines and spaces along with the kinds of notes that make up a simple melody. This will be related to simple melody that they will learn.

Ages: 5-7 ● Levels: 1

Piano I (ages 8-11) with Gretchen Winfield

For the 8-10 year old student with no prior piano experience. They will be introduced to the piano and basic theory. Melodies will be introduced that show examples of the theory that has been taught. Basic rhythms will be introduced.

Piano I (ages 12-18) with Gretchen Winfield

Students will learn the keyboard and basic theory. They will be able to apply this knowledge to playing melodies with chord patterns in the left hand. No previous experience for playing the piano is necessary.

Piano III is for students who have some experience playing the piano. Students will explore music theory and how it applies to musical pieces. Students will also explore music pieces from different periods. Access to a keyboard outside of the classroom is recommended for practice.

For the student with no experience or very little piano experience. The keyboard will be introduced and basic theory will be explored. Students will learn to play simple melodies with chord accompaniments also introduced. Each student must have availability to a keyboard for practice.

Beginning Ukulele with Patricia Bowes

Students will learn the basics of playing the ukulele, including easy chords and songs. The ukulele is a fun instrument to quickly learn chords and finger work before graduating to the guitar.

Ages: 10-18 ● Levels: 1

Supplies: Students must provide their own ukulele, which can be found at any music store for about $40.

Voice for Beginners with Patricia Bowes

Students will learn basic techniques of song and vocals. Each person will learn several songs to polish and present to the group. We will sing as a group and develop skills for singing solo songs, as well.

Beginning Violin with Annmarie Whitehurst

The violin is wonderful new instrument to learn for beginners and experts in other musical instruments. Students will learn how to read music in order to play the violin through lessons in theory.
